Good evening Root Down!

I hope everyone is well and thriving. As you all know, it has been quite the April. I want to commend you all on working hard and making efforts to ensure Root Down has run smoothly as I’ve been away.

Knowing that it has been a couple of weeks since any update, I want to make you all aware of the things that happened post surgery. During my recovery, I began having breathing issues and pain in my lower chest. Another trip to the emergency room revealed blood clots in both lungs and one in each lower leg. Admitted for another 4 days where I was put on an IV blood thinner, then sent home with a blood thinner prescription.

Beginning to feel a little better, a week went by and breathing became painful and difficult once again. In fear of the movement of the clots, I had to go back to the ER where I got some great news and a little bad news. After a scan, it was determined both clots in the lungs had dissolved and were gone. However, I now had pneumonia.

But, today, I feel the very best I have felt. Putting some weight back on…not the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Up to 177…so, 18 more to go as the rest of my body heals.

I want to say thank you…to all of you…for the daily thoughts and prayers. That and God’s Grace has got me through it all. I am going to try and begin coming in for a class a day next week and coach a little as I ease back into real life and normalcy.

As we work hard in the gym each day and try to eat our best and live as healthy as we can, know that these things will not keep the unexpected and “crazy” things from happening. But, it may very well keep us alive when they do.
